Electronics for Tessa Stamp, who designed the interior of MacEwan University’s boutique hotel room 147. The room theme is the history of the location where MacEwan now stands, and the room are covered with large format prints of archival photos from Edmonton’s history. Juchli Engineering built three electronic props for the room:
-A stepper motor and hall sensor based clock which counts off years rather than hours, and opens compartments in its body as the clock hand passes certain dates.
-An RFID tag and solenoid based shelf, which drops a key out of a hidden flap in the bottom when three items are placed on it in the correct locations.
-A magnetic lock based steamer trunk, which open when the five buttons in its lid are pressed in the correct sequence.
The black shelf is barely visible on the wall above the trunk. All the lovely lettering and finishes are Tessa’s work:
