The schools rooftop air-cooled chiller had reached its end of serviceable life. During initial investigations, mechanical team members noted that the 80-ton chiller was sufficiently cooling the entire school during the summer while operating at only 50% capacity. Upon internal investigation and analysis, they were able to reduce the size of the required chiller to 60-tons. A new institutional-quality, highly efficient rooftop chiller with R454b refrigerant was installed in the summer of 2025. New building management control sequences were provided by the engineering design team to increase operational efficiency for the school.
